You may ask, “Why would I ever need to resize volumes on my Mac?” It’s only a matter of time until one of the volumes becomes overfilled with data and you’ll need to free up some disk space. It’s likely that the necessary space will be located on an adjacent partition that contains another operating system and, just like that, you’ll need to resize both of the volumes to add some free space to one of them.
To access your downloads outside the browser, click the “Start” button in the lower left corner of your screen and type “Downloads” in the search box that appears. In some cases, when downloading a file you may be presented with a pop-up dialog box asking if you want to Save the file or Run the file. If you select the Save option and can specify where to save the file you can choose the Desktop, Documents folder, or any other location.
